Day 1: Friday, September 17th; The Trip to Massillon (just outside Canton)

6:00am
Four buses and our brand new equipment trailer left Schroeder right on schedule.

12:30pm
We arrived at our practice site in Canton, OH. Due to the heavy rain, the decision was made to head straight to the hotel and practice indoors.

2:30pm
After a slow ride due to traffic delays, we arrived at the hotel. The students got off the buses and headed for a large banquet hall where they will be able to practice. The plan is to practice for a couple of hours.

5:00pm
Here are some photos of this afternoon's practice at the hotel, taken by our official photographer, Kevin Leas.

6:00pm
Practice is over and the students will be getting settled into their rooms. Dinner is scheduled for 7:00pm. The rain has let up and the forecast for tomorrow looks good!

7:00pm
The practice room transformed into the dining room as everyone enjoyed a warm and hearty dinner of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and salad.

8:00pm
Everyone just finished dinner and the students have free time until 9:30 to go to the pool or visit some of the unique shops in the hotel. Lights are required to be out at 10:30pm and wake-up time is 5:45am.

Day 2: Saturday, September 18th; The Competition

8:00am
The students were up at 5:45am and departed for the practice site at 6:30am. The plan is to leave the practice site for the stadium at 11:20am for their 12:45pm prelim performance. The weather forecast is for partly sunny skies with a high of 70 degrees.

3:00pm
The band put on a great performance in prelims! They are back at the hotel now for a bite to eat and to await results. We won't know whether or not they made finals until after 5:00pm. In case we don't have time to update this site, please call the hot-line at (585)234-8684 (option 7). We will update the hot-line as soon as we know anything. Two bands from Pennsylvania, West Allegany HS and Mars Area HS, were not able to make it to the competition due to weather-related transportation problems.

5:00pm

photos from prelims.

6:30pm
Webster made the finals and received third place in Class AAA in prelims!

12:00 midnight
The band had another good performance in finals and finished in seventh place overall. The students have enjoyed some pizza back at the hotel and are getting settled into their rooms. We will post more competition details after we return to Rochester. More details are available on BOA's site. To view competition results on the BOA site, click on BOA Network, then select Login. You will be asked to create a user id and password, but there is no charge for the site.

Day 3: Sunday, September 19th; The Trip Home

7:30am
Students received their wake-up calls at 7:00am. The plan is to have breakfast at 8:30am and depart for Webster at 9:30am. Our estimated arrival time is around 3:00pm. We will not be able to update the web site during the trip home, so please check the hot-line at (585)234-8684 (option 7) for updates on our progress and estimated arrival time.

10:15am
Buses left the hotel for Webster.

12:00 noon
We stopped at a rest area and enjoyed our box lunches and some fresh air and sunshine.

4:10pm
The buses arrived back at Webster and made their way through the gauntlet of vehicles to the applause of proud fans.
