On Saturday evening, October 21, 1995, a celebration of music and movement, color and emotion took place in the stadium at R.L. Thomas Middle School on Five Mile Line Rd., Webster. The Webster High School Marching Band hosted the 10th annual Autumn Fanfare field band competition.

It almost didn't happen. There's always a rain plan, but going under cover means music but no marching, and the rain had poured down for over 18 hours (over 3 inches worth). By late afternoon, though, the rain stopped. The field had been covered and was in great shape for marching. Thousands of fans overflowed the stands as trumpet players from host, Webster, performed the "Star Spangled Banner" and months of preparation became a reality.

Thirteen bands from all over New York State, including the Rochester area, came to perform in competition. Well over 1500 participating band members, plus chaperones and staff, made Autumn Fanfare on one of the Webster area's biggest events.

The Golden Eagles Marching Band from Falconer, NY won 1st place in class A, with the local band from Aquinas a close second. In class AA, Victor took 1st place in tight competition with 3 other bands. In class AAA, the Medina "Mustang" Band took 1st ahead of second place Eastridge, from East Irondequoit, and Syracuse area band. The Liverpool High School Marching Warriors bested three other bands to win in National class. As host, Webster, also a National class band, performed in exhibition.
